The bionic.tv redisign is finally launched. Check it out for all things Bionic, including work and staff updates.

On the weekend of Sept. 21st, in the heart of the Catskills, near a certain “campground”, My Bloody Valentine will curate a New York ATP festival. Since 2001, All Tomorrow’s Parties have been selecting curators, ranging from Thurston Moore to Matt Groening to Vincent Gallo to Autechre, for an annual music festival in Camber Sands, England. The festival finally makes it’s way to the East Coast, US. Thus far, the announced line-up is pretty amazing. There is a limited 3000 tickets and they offer “hotel/ticket” packages. Tickets go on sale through the ATP website on Friday April 25th. For more info, visit the ATP site.

The line-up, thus far, is as follows:

MY BLOODY VALENTINE, FUCK BUTTONS, POLVO, LOW, EDAN WITH GUEST DAGHA, MOGWAI, THE DRONES, BUILT TO SPILL PERFORMING PERFECT FROM NOW ON, WOODEN SHJIPS, SHELLAC, THEE SILVER MOUNT ZION ORCHESTRA, AUTOLUX, MEAT PUPPETS PERFORMING MEAT PUPPETS II, TORTOISE PERFORMING MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE, THURSTON MOORE PERFORMING PSYCHIC HEARTS

You can view photos from the January Ski trip at this link. And you can still watch me fall on my ass at the “Learn to Snowboard” youtube links on the right.

That’s what it will cost us roundtrip to get to Amsterdam this weekend for the Roadburn Festival. I suspect it’s worth it to see more than a handful of favorites, new and old. Artists include Wolves in the Throne Room, Jesu, Isis, Enslaved, Boris, Trouble, Witchcraft, Down and so much more. (did I make it clear that I’m looking for a handout?)

In my 10 year tenure in downtown NYC, we regularly commented about the eccentricities of our landlord, William Gottlieb. He was a man who owned, at the time, an estimated $400 million in real estate in downtown, yet drove around in a beat up station wagon with smashed out windows. He passed away in 1999 and our future lay uncertain as his, now estimated over $1 billion, estate lay in jeopardy. The New York Times Magazine ran an interesting, albeit lengthy, article last Sunday, April 6, 2006, about him, his estate, and the perils of living and dying without a written will. On a personal note, both of my apartment buildings are pictured on the front page of the article.

After a slow beginning, the Gnaw project is finally moving along. Conceived last spring by Alan Dubin and Carter Thornton, of Khanate and Enos Slaughter respectively, we are now putting the finishing touches on several pieces of music and crazed soundscapes. We expect to have an album completed by late spring ’08 and are shooting for a summer release. The “band”, also featuring Jamie Sykes of Burning Witch and Jun Mizumachi of Ike Yard, is devised of manipulated instruments, samples and drum recordings. As the last link in this bizarre creative chain, it’s my responsibility to make sense of the madness. Look for it soon on your favorite label.
