I recently sold my D*A*M Fuzz rong, a Mosrite Fuzzrite clone, because my name came up on a waiting list for the much coveted D*A*M Sola Sound Tone Bender MKII. I couldn’t justify nor afford to have both, so a quick ebay auction provided a basically even trade for the Tone Bender. Maybe I haven’t spent enough time with it yet, but I’m seriously under-wowed by the Tone Bender MKII. I fell for the hype of it all and it is something to feel like I own a small fading piece of history (it most likely won’t be long before these thing are no longer in production because parts are scarce) but I find it very plain and unexciting. Yes, the classic sound, but obviously Les Paul > MKII isn’t quite unique. I much prefer my Analogman Red Dot Germanium Sun Face (fuzzface clone), It is darker and grittier. To that point, I also preferred the Fuzzrong. It  was much gnarlier and had a wider range of nasty fuzz. Then, when coupled with my MXR Dist + clone, which had the ability to round some of the edges, I was really fond of it. Not to mention, the Fuzz rong was just sexier. I had no idea how big the footprint of the MKII was. It is a tank. Sometimes you realize these things too late.
